This song is from the album "METAMORPHOSES and other plays directed by Mary Zimmerman" which features music composed by Willy Schwarz. I, Gabe, heard this song for the first time when I was in the audience of Metamorphoses back in 2001 or 2002 in NYC. I was so deeply haunted by the song that I made sure to see the show again, and to smuggle in my little mini-disc recorder with me in my coat pocket that time! I went home from the show with a very muffled, coat-pocket-sounding version of "The Kingfisher Song" as happy as could be. For years I listened to it over and over trying to decipher the song as best I could so that I could play it. (I should point out that the soundtrack for the show hadn't yet been recorded, nor was it trading on Napster, and this was a decade or so before Youtube existed. A haunted singer does what they have to do to hear a beautiful song again and again :)

To this day I don't understand why this song isn't considered a classic by the whole world. Here's us doing our part to try to bring a bit more attention to this musical gem.
